Could the Utah Jazz finally be through with the Damian Lillard drama soon?

Are the Utah Jazz going to trade for Damian Lillard? Are the Utah Jazz going to get Tyler Herro through the Lillard trade? Could the Jazz be involved in any way with the Lillard trade? You’re sick of hearing about these questions, and honestly, we’re sick of having to talk about them.

The Jazz are looking at a potentially huge season for the franchise. The last thing anyone wants is to watch the narrative continue to center around a 33-year-old point guard, whose best days are behind him, and whose reputation has imploded over the last four or five months.

Yet, here we are, almost forced to continue to talk about Lillard because of the enormity of his name and the impact he’ll have on multiple teams the minute the trade goes through.

Where will it be? Utah? Chicago? Toronto? Miami? At this point, we don’t know, or even care anymore, but we do know that it will likely happen sooner rather than later.

NBA insider, Marc Stein, believes the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard’s long-time home in the NBA, is on the verge of trading Lillard. Stein believes that the Blazers are calling around the league to as many teams as they have been because they want to ship out Lillard for something by the start of training camp. Media day begins for the Blazers on Oct. 2, making it a deadline of sorts for a trade to happen.

With the Blazers hoping to start a new era with Scoot Henderson, a point guard similar to Lillard, the idea is that they don’t want to start the preseason with both players on the team, having to deal with uncomfortable questions.

So if Stein’s assumption that the Blazers will trade Lillard before Oct. 2 is correct, an assumption that many around the NBA hold as well, then we’ll know by the start of next month if and how the Lillard trade affects the Jazz’s future.

And we can finally close this narrative once and for all.
