3. The ideal New York Knicks trade

The Knicks have quite a bit of young talent, and could potentially challenge for a good playoff spot in 2022, but with Donovan Mitchell paired with RJ Barrett, Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, the team could be quite good. Getting Mitchell, a three time All-Star however is going to cost them some of those assets, and even in the ideal Spida trade for the Knicks, they’d still have to give up quite a bit of capital to secure the home-town kid.

Sure, this is one that the Jazz could potentially have taken before the Rudy Gobert haul, and while it’s still a decent return for Utah, it may just fall short of Danny Ainge’s lofty expectations. This trade would still give Utah 3 potential starters (or pieces for more future draft capital), as well as four future first round picks that would really help their rebuilding process going forward. What Danny Ainge is asking for is a lot for an All-Star who has never made the All-NBA squad, and before the Gobert trade completely blew up the market, this could have been seen as fair compensation, and considering the competition for Mitchell, likely a better return than what Utah will get anywhere else before the 2022 season begins.
