2. The ideal Utah Jazz trade

The Utah Jazz don’t need to trade Donovan Mitchell, but if they keep him, they could be stuck in no-mans land for the 2022 campaign. Danny Ainge however, seems to be playing hard ball, and if the Jazz can’t get their ideal package in return for Spida, it seems that they are content to have him on the roster for the 2022 season, until they get something like this trade package in return.

Donovan Mitchell is a fantastic player and is under contract in Utah for the next 3 seasons, but this is an astronomical haul for him, and if the Jazz could get this in return from New York (who aren’t seeming to budge so far), they’d be able to speed along the rebuild with some talented young players that could start for this team immediately. Seven first round picks in a trade for one player is unheard of in the NBA, but after what the Jazz got for Rudy Gobert, no one can really blame Danny Ainge for playing hardball on that price, as some around the NBA see Mitchell as worth more than the defensive minded center.

Both of these first trades seem unrealistic to the losing side (that’s what negotiation is all about), and in an ideal world for Danny Ainge, he could get this package and move straight into a quick, 1-2 year rebuild with an impressive young core, but this next trade is the best of both worlds, and will give both franchises what they desire.
