At this point, it can’t be argued that the Knicks are the favourite to land hometown kid, and current Utah Jazz star, Donovan Mitchell, but a deal isn’t looking likely anytime soon. The two teams have re-engaged in trade talks in recent days, and it’s becoming more clear that while other teams certainly have interest in Mitchell, no one’s best deal even comes close to the B deal the Knicks can offer, and most people believe that if Spida is going to be traded, it’s going to be to New York.
After getting a massive haul for Rudy Gobert earlier in the off-season, Danny Ainge has his sights set even high for the Donovan Mitchell trade, and if he is really intent on moving No. 45, there’s a chance that he may need to compromise slightly. The two sides are talking again, and if the Jazz are intent on a rebuild, the Knicks will give them the most picks, but beyond that, what could a deal truly look like?
Today we are going to answer that question from three different perspectives: the ideal trade for the New York Knicks, the ideal trade from the Utah Jazz, and finally, what a balanced, realistic trade that works for both sides would look like.
