1990-91 Utah Jazz Record: 54-28, Lost in Western Conference Semifinals vs Portland Trail Blazers 1-4

In 1990-91, the Utah Jazz were in a bit of a transitional phase. They knew they were built around the dynamic combination of John Stockton and Karl Malone: they just didn’t know much else about themselves.

Shooting guard Jeff Malone enjoyed a quality season (side note: is Malone the greatest surname in NBA history?). He averaged 18.6 points per game for the Jazzmen over 1990-91. He managed that mark while shooting 19.6 from three-point range on a whopping 0.1 attempts per game. Those of us who were even alive at the time are certain to feel old after reading that statistic.

Otherwise, most of the key players on this team were aging out of their primes. Franchise staples like Mark Eaton and Darrell Griffith were simply unable to contribute like they had for the Utah Jazz for so long.
