2007-08 Utah Jazz record: 54-28, Lost in Western Conference Semifinals vs Los Angeles Lakers 2-4
The Utah Jazz loved the point guard/power forward driven offensive model so much, they doubled down on it long after John Stockton and Karl Malone hung up their laces. The 2007-08 season was the most successful of the Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer versions.
This era of Jazz basketball was marked by consistency more than anything. Williams and Boozer were surrounded by the usual cast of supporting players, including Andrei Kirilenko, Mehmet Okur, Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver. However, the offense was clearly built around the prowess of the two men pictured above.
Boozer had the best season of his career in 2007-08, with averages of 21.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Williams continued in his trajectory towards a brief but brilliant prime, averaging 18.7 points and 10.3 assists per game.
This talented, deep group was one of the best in the Western Conference, but they weren’t quite strong enough to get past the late, great Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers in the Semifinals.
