1999-00 Utah Jazz Record: 55-27, Lost in Western Conference Semifinals vs Portland Trail Blazers 1-4
If you’ve ever heard the expression “an oldie but a goodie”, know that it was coined in honor of the 1999-00 Utah Jazz.
Not really, but it might as well have been. This group was built around a 36-year-old Karl Malone, 37-year-old John Stockton and 36-year-old Jeff Hornacek. Bryon Russell spearheaded the youth movement…at 29.
Nonetheless, this was an effective group, as indicated by their regular season record. The aging core was surrounded by solid role players like Russell, Howard Eisley, Greg Ostertag and Olden Polynice.
They enjoyed a quality season, but ultimately fell short in the Western Conference Semifinals to a younger, deeper and (somehow) meaner Portland Trail Blazers squad.
