Patrick Beverley

The Jazz have had interest in Patrick Beverley in the past, but a deal has never been done. Beverley would be a nice addition to Utah’s backcourt, solidifying their depth. Unfortunately, Dante Exum and Raul Neto are injured often, so Beverley’s presence would obviously help in that regard. Although Donovan Mitchell played well at point guard when given the keys to the offense, it’d be nice to have a true point guard in there if needed.

Beverley fits the Jazz system perfectly. He plays defense, plays hard and is a good three-point shooter. He also can play both guard positions, which is good because Exum wouldn’t get fully demoted. Exum deserves to play.

The LA Clippers are a big question mark. They’re not the most talented team, but they play hard. They’ve dropped many games recently, though, and have their point guard of the future in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

If they keep dropping games and don’t feel comfortable about their playoff odds, maybe they’d be willing to trade Beverley for Thabo Sefolosha and a draft pick. Beverley would be worth it; I could see him playing a big time role for the Jazz. Beverley is in the final year of his bargain contract, he’s making a little over $5 million this season.
