San Antonio Spurs – Patty Mills

The San Antonio Spurs seem to tend to be pretty tight-lipped around the trade deadline, so it’s hard to know what crafty shenanigans they might be up to. In all honesty, there’s a very good chance that they’ll just leave their team as is rather than tinker with what has been a very successful roster up to this point.

However, if they do decide to make one of their role players available, the one I’d most love to see join up with the Jazz is Patty Mills. Not only would it be fun to have a third Aussie to play alongside Dante Exum and Joe Ingles (assuming neither of them were part of the trade, of course), but Mills is an incredible shooter and in my opinion one of the most underrated backups in the league.

At a three-point clip of 43.4 percent Mills is capable of burning down the nets and sparking big runs off the bench. On top of that, though, he’s a fantastic finisher at the rim, enjoys great quickness, and is a crafty defender. Think of him as a smaller version of Slo-Mo Joe, minus the Slo-Mo part.

I have a hard time believing the Spurs would give Mills up given all he does for the team, but San Antonio has been known to give up key players if the right opportunity arises, just ask George Hill.

Outside of Patty Mills, Danny Green, who actually seems more likely to be traded (though still not all that probable) would probably be my second choice due to his hot shooting hand and ability to improve Utah’s shooting guard spot.

Honorable Mention – Danny Green
