Utah Jazz: Top Trade Target From All 30 NBA Teams
Minnesota Timberwolves – Ricky Rubio
Ricky Rubio has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time even before this season. He’s also another point guard that I’ve discussed as a potential fit for the Jazz previously. As the Timberwolves look to potentially add some more veteran experience to their roster, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them finally cut ties with Rubio who’s somewhat underperformed for them.
But Rubio still has a unique skill set and I believe that a change of scenery could work wonders for him and his career. Despite not being an excellent shooter, he’s averaging a solid 8.4 assists this season and at the very least would be a very reliable option to run the offense in the second unit.
While he’s not much of a scoring threat, Rubio is valuable in that he can help get his teammates involved in a big way. Minnesota has also seemed pretty set on moving him, so if Utah is able to get him at a fair price, I wouldn’t be the least bit opposed to adding Rubio to the mix.
Another player that the Timberwolves could potentially offer to benefit the Jazz is Shabazz Muhammad. He’s likewise been at the center of several trade rumors and it seems quite likely that Minnesota will be active at the trade deadline this season as long as they can find a suitor.
Muhammad is an athletic swingman who is shooting the ball very well this season with a field goal percentage of 47.1 and a three-point percentage of 41.4, so Utah could definitely benefit from his services off the bench in that respect. However, in terms of fit with the team, I think Rubio would be a more intriguing prospect.
Honorable Mention – Shabazz Muhammad
