What’s happened to Utah’s stellar home-court advantage? Utah, one of the best teams at home this season, has dropped back-to-back games inside the Delta Center, starting with a 22-point defeat to the Golden State Warriors on Monday. Golden State is back in town on Thursday as a short favorite against the struggling Jazz.

Golden State has been one of the best teams in the NBA in recent action, winning seven of its last nine games to climb to .500 on the year and in the mix in the Western Conference playoff race. The Warriors are coming off a 130-125 loss to the Clippers Wednesday night. Can they cover a short number in Salt Lake City?

Steph Curry: Obviously, Curry is going to be the focal point any time the Warriors are on the floor. Curry is fifth in the NBA in scoring but has anchored Golden State’s stellar play heading into the All-Star break, averaging 32 points per game this month. Curry has gone for 30-plus points in three of the last four games, including a pair of 40-point performances. He’s hit 36 three-pointers in that stretch. 

Jazz

Jordan Clarkson: The veteran guard excels at coming off the bench and was the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year in 2021. Clarkson is averaging 17.4 points per game and has played 30-plus minutes in each contest over Utah’s current three-game losing streak. Clarkson has hit three-plus 3-pointers in three consecutive games and is coming off a 17-point, 5-assist performance in Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers.

Warriors vs. Jazz prediction and pick

By now, the numbers are well-known. Utah is an NBA-best 18-8 ATS at home this season and has gone 11-5 ATS as a home underdog. But the Jazz have been a complete no-show this week in two home losses by a combined 38 points. Do you go back to the well and bet Utah to bounce back? 

Yes. It’s time to buy the Jazz at their absolute lowest and fade the streaking Warriors, who had to fly back to Salt Lake City for one game ahead of the All-Star Break. It’s not crazy to think Utah’s season-long dominance at home should outweigh this two-game slide and they are due to return to form. 

In their previous matchup on Monday, Golden State shot 48% from the field and hit 20 three-pointers. Utah connected on just 34.4% of its perimeter attempts and turned it over 17 turnovers. Those numbers should see some positive regression for Utah, which is No. 4 in the NBA in scoring offense at home (123.2 points per game). Take the desperate Jazz as home underdogs.
