Utah is coming off a rare home loss, falling to the Golden State Warriors, 129-107, on Monday night in Salt Lake City. The Jazz have now lost eight of their last 12 games, so can they bounce back in front of their home crowd? Utah is 1.5 games back of Golden State for the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference as the Lakers come to town Wednesday night.

The Lakers, currently the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, are three games over .500 for the first time since Dec. 18. Los Angeles has won five of its last six after cruising past New Orleans (139-122) and Detroit (125-111) at home and now starts a brief two-game road trip.

Here’s the betting preview of Wednesday’s conference matchup with a best bet.

Lakers vs. Jazz key players to watch

Lakers

D’Angelo Russell: The veteran guard is averaging 17.6 points per game but has been on fire of late. Russell has scored 20-plus points in three consecutive contests, including a 30-point performance in Friday’s win over New Orleans. He’s shooting 27-of-58 from the field in that span.

Jazz

Collin Sexton: On a night where Utah’s offense struggled, Sexton carried the load with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting in Monday’s loss to Golden State to go with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former first-round pick is averaging 19.2 points and 5.2 assists in February and has grabbed 10 rebounds over the last two games.

Lakers vs. Jazz prediction and pick

The two teams have split two previous matchups with each team winning at their home venue. The Jazz pulled out a 132-125 win over the Lakers in their last matchup in Salt Lake City and have only lost back-to-back home games twice this season.

Utah is 18-7 ATS at home this season and has enjoyed pulling away from teams inside the Delta Center, going 7-2 ATS as a home favorite. The Jazz offense is No. 4 in the NBA in scoring at home (123.2 points per game) and should be able to recover from a poor showing Monday against a Lakers team that is No. 23 in defensive rating on the road.

The Lakers also have a quick turnaround after winning Tuesday’s game against Detroit. Los Angeles is 5-10 ATS with a rest disadvantage this season and Utah is 9-2 ATS with a rest advantage. The Jazz are the fresher team and they play at a top-10 pace in the NBA, which should help them get margin against a Lakers defense that is No. 26 in fast-break points allowed. Take Utah to get right.
