As the Utah Jazz set out on their 3-game road trip to Boston, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee, a huge storm approached the northeast part of the United States, expected to bring cold temperatures and a significant amount of snow.
The Jazz must have felt the approaching chill, as their shooting from the start in Friday's game was frigid - they spotted Boston a 10-0 lead and were shooting 21% at one point early on.
Boston made 3-pointers early, stretching their lead to 31 at the half as the Jazz couldn't seem to get the ball in the basket, no matter who was shooting.
Collin Sexton had 10 points by the half on 5/9 shooting, one of the few bright spots.
Though the Jazz were able to hold pretty even in the 3rd quarter, being outscored by 1 (35-36), they never threatened and had gone deep into their bench by the 10-minute mark of the 4th quarter as they trailed by 31 points.
Talen Horton-Tucker even got off the bench early in the 4th. He had only played once in the prior 7 games.
Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 17 points, and Collin Sexton had 13.
Overall the Jazz looked gassed early and might have been feeling the effects of their last game, a 154-147 win against Detroit 2 nights earlier.
Nobody on the Jazz played more than 25 minutes as Will Hardy looked to preserve them for Saturday's game against Philadelphia,
The one bright spot in this game was that the Jazz didn't quit after the half, actually outscoring Boston 57-55 but it wasn't nearly enough to cut the lead down as they lost by 29 points, 126-97. Now we see if they can recover and get a win or two on the rest of the trip.
