Jazz make absolutely necessary decision ahead of Las Vegas Summer League

This decision didn't make sense beforehand.

The Utah Jazz went undefeated during the Salt Lake City Summer League, winning all three of their matchups. The primary reason was that they were simply too loaded. While it's good to see the Jazz's youth show their promise, one player showed he was clearly too good for him to be on the team: Brice Sensabaugh. Luckily, Sensabaugh won't be on the team come Las Vegas.

KSL Sports' Ben Anderson revealed who will be on the Jazz's Summer League roster when they play in Las Vegas. He confirmed that Sensabaugh won't be on the team.

All it took was one half of the Jazz's very first game in Salt Lake City for Sensabaugh to show he was way too good for these particular basketball exhibitions. As encouraging as it was to see him continuing his progress since having a pretty promising sophomore campaign, it seemed unnecessary to have him on the team.

It was fun to see Sensabaugh show shades of Bojan Bogdanovic in his game, but Jazz fans knew well ahead of time that even if he wasn't a star in the making, he had shown enough this past season that putting him on the Summer League roster seemed a little much.

It's not as if this were a major issue. Watching Utah win because their young talent showcased how promising they are both as individuals and as a unit is always fun. Sensabaugh led the charge on that, so it was fun to watch good basketball after watching a season of mostly awful basketball from the Jazz.

Sensabaugh's absence means more time for other youngsters

Sensabaugh was a known commodity going into Summer League, while the abilities from some of the other young players on Utah's roster are more based on potential than on the concrete like he is. With his absence, now the Jazz will get to see more out of the likes of the young players who have more to prove.

It means more touches for Ace Bailey, who looked incredible in Salt Lake City, with the only issue being that not many plays were ran through him. Sensabaugh's absence should increase his usage in Las Vegas.

He's not the only one who has shown intrigue. Enough has been said about Cody Williams' concerningly underwhelming rookie season, but he has shown a bit more after Summer League started. Williams is showing confidence and aggression, so with Sensabaugh not playing, the Jazz sophomore has the chance to build on it.

Those are the other two Jazz wings on their Summer League roster. Other players will also ger more chances like Isaiah Collier (who didn't have the best performance in Salt Lake City and needs to show an improved jumper) and Kyle Filipowski (he has shown his skills, but could he be capable of more?).

It was awesome to see Sensabaugh only further fuel the optimism about him going forward. He's proven more than enough by doing so. If some of Utah's other young players continue to show they too are following in his footsteps as a prospect, then the Jazz have every right to feel good about their youth movement.
