It took exactly one half for Brice Sensabaugh to prove Jazz made a baffling decision

We're only one half into Game 1 of the Utah Jazz's Summer League in Salt Lake City, and one thing is pretty clear: Brice Sensabaugh is really freaking good. So much so that with only one half, it's only become all the more confusing that he was on the Jazz's Summer League roster to begin with.

With the first half in the books between the Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers, Sensabaugh's statline reads as follows: 16 points, six-for-11 from the field, and four threes. It took him absolutely no time at all to show why he's simply too good to be in the Summer League after two years in the NBA.

The outlook on Sensabaugh after Year 2 wrapped up was pretty bright after a forgettable rookie season. He had shown that he had the makings of the Jazz's next three-point sniper, and that might only be his NBA floor. His quick dominance in the Summer League further reinforces that his future is quite bright in Utah.

He may not necessarily be a star in the making, but the Jazz wing has given them so many indications that he's a keeper for their future. Whether he's a starter or coming off the bench, the Jazz hit a late-draft bullseye with him.

Many were confident in his abilities before Summer League even started tonight, so even if it is confusing that he's on their roster, he has only continued to reward everyone's faith in him. If anything, his first half tonight shows precisely why he won't be joining the team in Las Vegas two weeks from now.

What will Sensabaugh's role be in year 3?

While the upcoming third-year Jazzman is making it clear he's too good to play in the Summer League, his impressive improvement can only make one wonder what role he will slot in with the Jazz. It actually is a bit more complicated than people think.

Utah will likely throw Ace Bailey to the wolves his rookie season, as he is their highest pick since Dante Exum. However, following the departures of Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson, there is the possibility Sensabaugh could slot in at the wing as Bailey plays the role of an oversized two-guard.

Honestly, he's been so good in his role between the latter half of this past season and the start of Summer League that it's hard to see how the Jazz could mess this up. The shooting is very much real, and the scoring is promising. Having that with the starting lineup or coming off the bench is something even playoff teams salivate over.

It's a good problem to have, and while it may be a while before the Jazz make the playoffs again, Sensabaugh has shown the Jazz have no reason not think he should be in the rotation when they do.
