Derrick Favors has wild response to Jae Crowder's controversial NBA statement

Plenty disagreed with Crowder's statement about what the NBA has become. Favors wasn't one of them.

Utah Jazz alum Jae Crowder certainly caught everyone's attention when he proclaimed that the NBA is in a "weird place" and went on to insinuate that the game is no longer as complex as it used to be. Among those who understood where Crowder was coming from was his former Jazz teammate Derrick Favors.

Crowder, true to his character, gave his unfiltered thoughts on the current state of the NBA (which just happened to be the year after his last season in the league), claiming it was different from the one he played in.

Favors, who played with Crowder for his entire brief tenure with the Jazz, seemed to agree with his ex-teammates' sentiment on the current NBA.

Unlike Crowder, Favors elaborated on his thoughts on the matter. He gave a clearer idea of what the league is all about now compared to when he played.

Of course, it's hard not to think these are former players who are sour grapes over the fact that they are no longer in the league. Favors hasn't been in the NBA since 2022, while Crowder last played literally last year (and he barely played). However, in Favors' case, he's making his point known, but also making it clear that he still thinks the league is a good product.

Favors still thinks the NBA is in a good place

Favors can be honest, but his recent thoughts are a little optimistic than Crowder's. He made his point very clear about the league that he still thinks the NBA is fantastic, but it's different from the league he was in.

Even while making some observations about what the NBA is now compared to when he played, Favors made it clear that he doesn't think that the league has gotten worswe, but it's changed. In fact, he even acknowledged that players who came before him probably though the same thing about the time in which he played in the NBA.

The overarching point is, the NBA does not stay the same. It is different compared to when Favors played, and 10 years from now, it will probably be much different compared to now. It's kind of like how fashion doesn't stay the same, but it changes, and when it does, everyone adapts.

Favors has never been afraid to speak his mind, and he is more than happy to say what is on his mind, even if it goes against the prevailing narrative. For example, he has always talked about how much he loved his time in Utah, which is believed to be one of the worst player situations.

Best of all is that Favors didn't say this just to get clicks. He clearly had something to say, and wanted to expand on it. In this day and age, it's cool to see that he was saying this not just because he wanted to get everyone's attention.
