Former Utah Jazz forward, Rudy Gay, was released by the Golden State Warriors, possibly bringing an end to his NBA career.

Rudy Gay is once again asking you to sign him. The former Memphis Grizzlies star is on the market once again after being cut by the Golden State Warriors and it seems like the 38-year-old forward is nearing the end of a spectacular career. Gay, who made his name with the Grizzlies, and ended up having good runs with the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs after, landed in Salt Lake City in 2021 with the Utah Jazz.

He played two seasons with the Jazz, playing in 111 games, and was far from what he once was in years past, when he was a near All-Star caliber player. He averaged just 6.7 points over his time in Salt Lake City, shooting under 40% from the field and just 31% from three.

The Jazz were desperate for him when he arrived, as the team was looking to still compete with the likes of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell on the roster. Then the reboot of 2022 occurred and Gay was once again being shopped.

Eventually he’d be dealt to the Atlanta Hawks with a second-round pick in exchange for John Collins, and he’d be waived by the team not long after. He wouldn’t be a free agent for long, landing with the Golden State Warriors for what would’ve been his 18th NBA season.

Now, at 37-years-old, it looks like the end of the line. He may find someone to take him on, most likely a team like the Milwaukee Bucks or Phoenix Suns, teams that have been depleted by trades and need bench depth.

But it’s also likely that Gay’s lack of efficiency scoring the ball may have caught up with him, and if that’s the case, Gay may never play again.

If he doesn’t, he’s had a career many would wish for. He played great basketball and was the focal point on several playoff teams. Gay’s time in Utah wasn’t long, and his output was less than ideal, but he gave it his all while here.

And if this is the end of the road for him, we just want him to know we appreciate the effort he put in for the Jazz.
