Is Jordan Clarkson among the Top 20 shooting guards in the league?

Jordan Clarkson will be a key cog for the Utah Jazz during the 2023-2024 season. The team is still in an odd space where guys like Clarkson and Kyle Olynyk are still on the team, despite their age and value in the trade market, but it seems like the Jazz’s top brass have hopes to compete this year.

Meaning, Clarkson is going to need to have a big year. After Lauri Markkanen, he’s the team’s best scorer and someone who could start for the Jazz as a point guard, or at shooting guard. If need be, he can even be the sixth man off the bench, an award he’s already won.

But can the Jazz win with Clarkson as their second option? As far as scorers go, he’s not the most efficient compared to others in his position. In fact, he’s not even in the Top 10 at his position. Markkanen is a Top 10 SF or PF, depending on the lineup, he’s that versatile.

But is Clarkson a Top 10, or even a Top 20 guy? No, not according to the rankings found on The Ringer. Clarkson is at No. 104 on the list, but how many of those 103 men are shooting guards?

Well, we looked through the list and then we compared every player to their roster spot on Basketball Reference. If The Ringer listed the player as a guard, but Basketball Reference listed them as a point guard or some type of forward, they were not included on the list.

For instance, the Warriors’ Klay Thompson is listed as a guard on the list, but he’s actually a small forward currently for the Warriors. So keeping this in mind, where did Clarkson land?

The Ringers Top Shooting Guards

  1. Devin Booker
  2. Donovan Mitchell
  3. James Harden
  4. Jaylen Brown
  5. Desmond Bane
  6. Kyrie Irving
  7. Bradley Beal
  8. Dejounte Murray
  9. Zach LaVine
  10. Tyrese Maxey
  11. Derrick White
  12. Norman Powell
  13. Kevin Huerter
  14. Tyler Herro
  15. CJ McCollum
  16. Jalen Williams
  17. Anfernee Simons
  18. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
  19. Immanuel Quickely
  20. Devin Vassell
  21. Jordan Clarkson

As you can see, Clarkson just missed the cut-off, but honestly, he shouldn’t have. While some of the guys ahead of him are good, he’s better than Williams, Simmons, Caldwell-Pope, Quickely, and Vassell.

In our opinion, Clarkson should be no lower than no. 16.

Next. 3 interesting but not great trade proposals for the Utah Jazz. dark
