What became of the pieces that the Utah Jazz got from the Rudy Gobert trade?

The Utah Jazz made the bold move to trade away their three best players last year to restart and hopefully find greater success with new guys than they were with the prior ones. That meant that Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and Bojan Bogdanovic (among others) were shipped away.

Aside from Saban Lee no longer being on the team, the assets from the Mitchell and Bogdanovic trades are mostly still here. Collin Sexton, Ochai Agbaji, Lauri Markkanen, pick on pick on pick, and not to mention Kelly Olynyk.

Yet, the Gobert trade continues to evolve past the point of it being easy to track. The trade originally landed the Jazz rookie Walker Kessler, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Patrick Beverly, and Leandro Bolmaro, not to mention first-round picks in 2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029, with a pick-swap in 2026.

But the team would reshape itself months later. Beasley and Vanderbilt wouldn’t be here long as they were shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers for Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson
Damian Jones, and a 2027 1st-round pick (via Lakers).

Westbrook was bought out by the Jazz, Toscano-Anderson wasn’t retained and Jone was later traded for an unknown return (assumed to be cash).

Beverly wasn’t retained either, being shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers for Stanely Johnson and Talen Horton-Tucker. Stanley would later be waived by the Jazz.

The last player to come over in the Gobert trade was Leandro Bolmaro, who would go on to be waived by the Jazz. Lastly, the Jazz saw one of their Gobert picks convert, as Utah took Keyonte George with their first pick from the Timberwolves.

So, here’s what’s still left from the trade;

  • 2025 first-round pick
  • 2026 pick swap
  • 2027 first-round pick (MIN)
  • 2027 first-round pick (LAL)
  • 2029 first-round pick
  • Walker Kessler
  • Talen Horton-Tucker
  • Keyonte George

Right now, Kessler and Horton-Tucker pose to be big contributors for the upcoming season, and George has an outside shot at starting at point guard, assuming he can get past Horton-Tucker, Collin Sexton, and Kriss Dunn to do so.

Next. 3 interesting but not great trade proposals for the Utah Jazz. dark
