OG Anunoby trade proposal to the Utah Jazz is too rich to even debate over

A new trade idea has the Utah Jazz going in on OG Anunoby

The Utah Jazz are a team with a host of assets and young players, so because of that fact, the team is constantly being used by other writers and pundits in trade ideas. Sure, some trade ideas are good, and others not so much, but this one from NBA Analysis has us asking if they’re serious or just making some out-there jokes.

In this trade proposal, they suggest the Raptaors send OG Anunoby to the Jazz for Collin Sexton and three first-round draft picks. Sure, the move for Anunoby is fine, but one involving three-first round picks and Sexton?

Come on, be serious.

"Raptors get: G Collin Sexton, 2025 First-Round Pick (CLE via UTA), 2026 First-Round Pick (UTA), 2027 First-Round Pick (MIN via UTA)Jazz get: F OG Anunoby"

Anunoby is a good player, but he’s injured all the time, and even the Raptors fandom is aware of this. He’s never played 70 games, let alone 80 games. He’s played just 40+ games twice in the last three seasons and has only played 77% of a possible 472 games. He’s a very good two-way player, but his shooting from three isn’t so good that he’d be a team’s second-best scorer (forget first). He’s at best a third, or fourth option on a playoff team, and while his defense is great, he’s not so transcendent of a defender that it’s worth three picks on its own.

No, Sexton and a singular first is more than fair for a guy who would see his offensive production dip dramatically moving from a third option on a Toronto team to a fourth or fifth option in Utah. Lauri Markkanen, John Collins, and Jordan Clarkson are all going to get more touches than Aununoby, not to mention the desire to see what Keyonte George and Taylor Hendricks can do.

It’s very possible he has the fifth, sixth, or even seventh most shot attempts in Utah if he’s moved. His versatility makes him a good piece, but his lack of elite scoring makes his role in the offense expendable.
