Are the Utah Jazz in the Summer League playoff?
By Chad Porto
The Utah Jazz have gone undefeated in the Summer League.
Heading into their Friday night showdown with the Phoenix Suns, the Utah Jazz were 3-0 and on the cusp of getting into the Summer League playoffs. They were one of the few undefeated teams left in the tournament but a loss would put in doubt whatever potential they had to get to the playoffs and close out a successful summer.
The Jazz ended up falling behind on Friday, with the Suns taking a slight lead heading into the fourth quarter of their pivotal matchup with Utah, but despite being down heading into the fourth and not having any of their three rookies for the game, the Jazz were able to mount the win and take down the Suns 97-93.
Luka Samanic continued to impress and was able to help lead the Jazz to a win alongside other members of the team who also stepped up, namely Johnny Juzang.
And now with an undefeated record, what happens next?
Well, the Utah Jazz were able to secure a playoff spot with the win over the Phoenix Suns, securing them a 4-0 record after 76 games played across the month of July.
Here’s what the playoffs mean for the Jazz; because the Jazz was one of four teams to make the playoffs, the other 26 teams will play a final fifth game to close out their Summer League, allowing the teams to prepare for the start of training camp in the not too distant future.
For the Jazz, they have at least one more game, played on Sunday, July 16 at 5 PM CDT, where they’ll be playing the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are the second seed, and the Jazz are the third seed.
Joining them in the playoffs are the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, who will also play their Summer League playoff game on Sunday.
