After losing in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics are likely going to undergo some changes during the offseason. Especially if they end up paying Jaylen Brown the maximum contract extension that he’s going to be asking for. One of the changes that will likely end up happening is the departure of Grant Williams, who will be a restricted free agent this offseason. With as much money as the Celtics are going to have tied up in Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Derrick White, and Malcolm Brogdon, it would be extremely surprising if Williams was brought back.

The great thing about Williams is that he’s the type of 3-and-D contributor that could fit on literally every team. And he’d certainly have a role with the Utah Jazz if they were interested. He’s a good culture-building player and could be viewed as somewhat of a poor man’s PJ Tucker when he was in his prime. Of course, the troubling part about a potential pursuit of Williams is the fact that any team that acquires him is likely going to have to overpay for him.

While Williams could be a good player who probably hasn’t even hit his ceiling, he’s simply not a player that the Jazz are ready to go all-in for. Williams won’t have as much of an impact on a rebuilding team like the Jazz as he will on a contender.
