Coby White
If the Utah Jazz are interested in adding some youth and talent to their backcourt, there’s one restricted free agent that could make sense – Coby White.
White is a player who likely isn’t going to be back with the Chicago Bulls, but you’d have to imagine that will likely be determined by what his market ends up being. At this point, that’s something that’s impossible to predict. However, coming off a season in which he averaged just 10 points in 23 minutes per game, you can’t imagine that the market will be great.
That could lead to the possibility that the Jazz would be interested. White is still just 23 years old and hasn’t hit his ceiling. If Utah can get him for the right price, they should. Though, considering that he’s taken a step or two back from his sophomore season, White is not a player that the Jazz should be overpaying for in free agency. He’s not a free agent you want to “bet” on.
Utah should absolutely explore its options in free agency, but overpaying for the wrong free agent could end up putting the franchise in a bad position moving forward. It will be interesting to see how the front office approaches free agency.
