Utah Jazz great Mike Conley is dishing his way up the all-time assist list.

There’s no telling how many more years remain in the career of third-year Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley. So there’s no telling how high the 15th-year pro will climb on the league’s list of all-time assist leaders now that he’s surpassed 5,000 for his career.

Considering that Conley has delivered several hundred dimes per season as of late, the dozens of names in the 5-6K range all seem well within the 34-year-old’s reach — barring a career-altering injury, of course.

A move up one notch despite limited assists in the latest Utah Jazz game

Mike Conley added only two assists to his total in Tuesday night’s 119-113 home win over the Sacramento Kings. Yet he was busy scoring on his own for the Jazz via a highly efficient 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting from the field, including a 6-for-9 clip from downtown.

Nevertheless, Conley’s two assists moved him into the No. 65 spot on the all-time list and past Hall of Fame point guard Walt Frazier, who lasted 13 years in the NBA (1967-1980) between the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

With regards to the active assist leaders, Conley still sits at No. 8, trailing Chris Paul, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Kyle Lowry, James Harden, and John Wall, respectively. He trails Wall by about 500 and Paul by more than 5,000.

As for the all-time list, Conley needs only 55 assists to leapfrog former 14-year NBA point guard Raymond Felton at No. 64.

Now, unless Mike Conley finds a fountain of youth and plays for about 30 more years, there’s zero chance he’ll end up No. 1 on the all-time list. No, that spot could forever belong to Utah Jazz treasure John Stockton and his 15,806 dimes (almost 4,000 more than No. 2 Jason Kidd).
