Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell was in attendance at Saturday’s University of Utah Football game donning his new custom jersey. He also responded to Utah State Football’s generous invitation.

It’s college football season, which for die-hard NBA fans means we at least have something new and exciting to tide us over until basketball finally gets underway. Fortunately, NBA preseason starts in less than two weeks and the regular season won’t be too far behind that.

But us fans aren’t the only ones who have enjoyed taking in some college football mania. Donovan Mitchell and his Utah Jazz teammates have recently found themselves right in the thick of the action as well. Mitchell and Royce O’Neale were in attendance at University of Utah’s home opener and Donovan Mitchell and recently signed Jazzman Trey Lewis were at a game in Louisville last weekend, to name a couple instances.

Furthermore, earlier in the week, University of Utah’s Football Equipment staff unveiled a custom Donovan Mitchell football jersey on Twitter. Mitchell was obviously pleased with it as he was once again in attendance at Utah’s game on Saturday night donning the sweet uniform.

And this time, the Jazz were even better represented, as he was joined by Royce O’Neale, Georges Niang, two-way player Naz Mitrou-Long and training camp signee Jairus Lyles. Check it out yourself in the images below–

Definitely a good look for Donovan. Unfortunately, the team he was there supporting fell short as they were stopped by Washington by a score of 21-7.

It’s entirely possible that Mitchell may be collecting yet another jersey from a football team in the state next weekend as well. Last week, I reported that Utah State Football had extended a desirable offer to Mitchell to incentivize him to come out to their game on September 22nd against Air Force. Not only did the invite include a custom USU uniform, but also the chance to be an honorary captain and participate in the coin toss.

Not to mention, they also lined up a custom jersey for Mitchell’s friend and teammate Royce O’Neale.

Well, Donovan has since given an inkling of a response to Utah State with the following message on Twitter–

Royce O’Neale seemed to reply in the affirmative as well with this response–

Of course, it seems their final decision is still up in the air, and the upcoming Aggie Football game is definitely close to the start of training camp, but early indications are that the two Jazzmen could very well be in attendance. Teammate Georges Niang, who was with them at the Utah football game, stopped by Logan to get a workout in between stops visiting youth camps this summer, so perhaps they’ll bring him along as well!

Either way, this could be an exciting upcoming Saturday for a Utah State team that too often tends to be overlooked in the state. The Aggies appear to have an exciting season ahead led by quarterback Jordan Love, and having Donovan Mitchell and Royce O’Neale in attendance would be an awesome honor for the rising team and its incredibly passionate fanbase.
