Tony Bradley and rookie Grayson Allen will both be sidelined for the Utah Jazz’s latest summer league bout in Las Vegas.
Tournament play has officially begun at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. But if you were hoping to catch a glimpse the Utah Jazz’s Grayson Allen and Tony Bradley on Thursday night, you’re going to come away disappointed.
Bradley will continue to sit with a wrist contusion, while the team has also elected to rest Allen once again. Allen has missed multiple games already to rest a strained adductor.
Nevertheless, the duo’s absence from Utah’s upcoming bout with the Orlando Magic is no cause for concern. Sitting players who are already on the regular season roster for the last few games of summer league, or even giving them less time, is nothing new for the Jazz.
While some teams aim to give players as much experience on the court as possible, the Jazz seemingly prioritize learning what they need to learn and nothing more. Avoiding injury also remains a priority for this Jazz coaching staff.
The Jazz are near the bottom of the summer league standings and this shouldn’t bother any of us in the slightest. The coaching staff has likely already learned more than what they needed to know about new addition in Allen, as well as the returning sophomore Bradley.
Grayson has looked fantastically athletic thus far and even had a few highlight dunks.
While he probably is not a Rookie of the Year candidate, he could prove to be yet another steal by the Jazz staff. His shot hasn’t been falling, but he’s made great plays (and often the right plays), worked with his team and is comfortable with the ball.

Barring injury, we likely won’t see Bradley for much more than garbage time this upcoming season, but he’s also looked much stronger and with a more NBA-ready game. I’d expect that he will crack the rotation in the 2019-20 season or else make a decent young asset in the future.
As far as we know, Georges Niang is still going to suit up versus the Magic. Niang has performed very well and proven himself to be an NBA player, at least as a rotational or depth piece.
The Jazz will have a tough time stopping Mo Bambo without Tony Bradley, but who cares? It’s summer league!
