The folks at Hoops Hype are really downplaying the Utah Jazz’s assets.

What’s with the NBA media not giving the Utah Jazz their fair shake? The team has so many first-round picks that they could conceivably trade for both Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, alongside some young prospects. They’re loaded with picks.

They’re not just loaded with picks but young prospects as well. Namely three rookies; Keyonte George, Taylor Hendricks, and Brice Sensabaugh. Not to mention younger players like Ochai Agbaji, Collin Sexton, and Walker Kessler. This team is loaded with youth, draft picks, and upside.

So it’s baffling that Hoops Hype really only put the Jazz at No. 7. Now, that’s nothing to sneeze at, but considering who’s ahead of them, it makes no sense. We get the Oklahoma City Thunder being the top-rated team but behind the likes of the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Boston Celtics?

Come on. The San Antonio Spurs are somehow ahead of the Jazz as well, and while they have the best prospect of anyone, Victor Wembanyama, the rest of their young corp really isn’t that exciting, and they have fewer first-round picks than the Jazz. Sure they have more seconds, but those rarely, if ever, turn into good NBA players.

Here’s what Hoops Hype said about the seventh-rated Jazz;

"Utah ranks high in this list mostly thanks to their massive surplus of 13 future first-round picks. They have several new young players like Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler who are high in our Trade Value Rankings after their surprising seasons. The Jazz could reach the top of these rankings if any of their recent selections in this year’s draft pans out. They are on a good path where they can be competitive now while developing young players for the future."

It’s mind-boggling that they don’t see just how impressive this Jazz team’s future really is. The possibilities are endless.
