How each blockbuster free agent decision impacts the Utah Jazz

This summer’s free agency period has been absolutely crazy thus far with a number of blockbuster signings that have impacted the Utah Jazz and the league as a whole.

For better or for worse, due to the somewhat unfortunately predictable nature of the NBA Finals year in and year out, it’s no secret that in many ways the Association’s offseason is more exciting than its final playoff series. That’s certainly been the case so far this summer as a flurry of big-time moves involving elite players have already taken place.

Unfortunately, some of those moves may very well further the problem of the offseason being more entertaining than the postseason itself, but I won’t go further into that than I have to.

Thus far, free agency has been pretty quiet for the Utah Jazz. The biggest news up to this point is that they’ve re-signed Derrick Favors to a two-year deal. They’ve also guaranteed the contract of Thabo Sefolosha, could be in pursuit of unrestricted free agent Nemanja Bjelica and reportedly have shown interest in Trevor Booker and Davis Bertans.

For now, though, we’re actually going to look outside of the Utah Jazz organization at some of the blockbuster moves that have taken place in the early days of free agency. No, the Jazz haven’t been a part of any of these and haven’t landed any big fish themselves, but make no mistake about it, the decisions of these star players will certainly leave their mark on the Utah squad.

Let’s kick it off with a blockbuster decision by someone the Jazz know all too well after he recently moved into the Northwest Division last summer (and apparently enjoyed it) and faced Utah in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs – Paul George.
