With three minutes left in the Utah Jazz’s blowout win over Golden State, a dream came true for David Stockton, as he played his first minutes in a Jazz jersey.
It’s truly special to see David Stockton, the son of Utah Jazz legend John Stockton, suit up for his father’s former team. David getting his first playing time with the Jazz will be a moment that the Stockton family will remember forever. It’s also a moment that had Jazz fans reminiscing.
It may have only been three minutes, but it will be a three minutes that Jazz Nation will remember. Stockton scored his first points with the Jazz at the foul line, sinking 2-2 free throws.
Stockton has worked extremely hard to get to this point. He signed a 10-day contract with the Jazz on March 17, and that contract is set to end very shortly. It remains to be seen whether or not the Jazz will keep him around, but Stockton has proven that he has what it takes to be an NBA guard.
Before signing with the Jazz, Stockton was suiting up for the Reno Bighorns of the G-League. He averaged 16.3 points per game and 5.2 assists per game with the club, and had an impressive preseason with the Sacramento Kings.
Growing up a fan of the Jazz, I would watch John Stockton play and be in awe. His passing skills were top-notch, his defense was phenomenal and he always played hard. Watching David play, it just put a smile on my face. It’s nice seeing another Stockton droppin’ dimes and playing pesky defense.

David may not have played in any games before Sunday, but he was always cheering his teammates on and celebrating. He seems to be a great teammate, and fits with the Jazz.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jazz give him a second 10-day contract. You always like to have some depth in case of injury or foul trouble, and the Jazz are still without Raul Neto, who suffered a fractured wrist.
Come what may, congratulations are in order for David Stockton for playing his first minutes with the Utah Jazz. It was truly a special moment.
Like father, like son.
