Joe Harris

Current Team: Brooklyn Nets

Status: Unrestricted

What I like:

Principal among the things I like about Joe Harris is the fact that he’s shooting over 40 percent from three this season, but the list doesn’t stop there. Harris rebounds well for his size and position, and is an unselfish player that plays within his role and therefore could fit extremely well with a tight-knit Jazz squad.

Not only that, but although his solid year will very likely earn him a raise this summer, he’s on a bargain of a deal right now and could still very well be had for cheap. Adding someone of his shooting ability who contributes in other ways as well is always a good thing in my mind.

What I don’t like:

My biggest issue with Harris would be that I’m not sure he would fit with Utah’s rotation as is. While upgrading at the small forward position could potentially be a good idea, I wouldn’t put Harris above Joe Ingles, and with Royce O’Neale proving to be a serviceable backup, it might be hard for him to break the rotation.

Final Thoughts:

If Harris could be had for cheap, he could be a nice rotational piece to provide Utah with more three-point shooting and more depth. However, I’d view him more as a solid last minute consolation prize than as a top free agent target.
