Emmanuel Mudiay traded to Knicks

TO KNICKS: Emmanuel Mudiay. TO NUGGETS: Devin Harris, Clippers’ 2018 second-round pick via Knicks. TO MAVERICKS: Doug McDermott, Nuggets’ second-round pick.

Woodcox: Doug McDermott is free from the Knicks, the Nuggets get a much-needed veteran backup point guard that I think will be great for them in Denver and the Knicks ended up with an erratic player who has looked like a bust and were the lone team to not wind up with a pick. All in a days work for the hapless Knicks!

Thorpe: Another trade that makes sense all around. While all three teams should be happy with their return, the Knicks get Mudiay for a screaming deal. Their season is all but over, and a move like this is exactly what the franchise needed moving forward. I also REALLY like Dougie McBuckets for in Dallas.

Aston: Remember when Emmanuel Mudiay and Doug McDermott were supposed to be good? Whenever fans go ape over the notion of tanking, I think of them. You just rarely know what’s going to happen in the draft lottery and/or which players are going to pan out. I think Devin Harris wins this particular deal for joining a potential playoff squad.

Padmore: I think this trade works at well for all three teams. Denver gets a veteran point guard, which they have really needed. New York gets a great prospect to develop in Mudiay and Dallas already has plans to re-sign Doug McDermott this off-season.

Keeffer: Did the Knicks just do something smart? Good for them! They didn’t sacrifice any picks, and were able to get back a young combo guard who can play alongside Frank Ntilikina. Would you be surprised to hear that Emmanual Mudiay is shooting 37 percent from three and 80 percent from the free throw line? He wasn’t going to get minutes in Denver, but the Knicks can give him heavy minutes in the last year of his contract. It will help them lose now, and maybe they’ll find that Mudiay can be a building block for their future. The Knicks may have actually won a trade. Who would’ve thought?
