NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is returning to Salt Lake City to bowl in support of youth organizations.

With the NBA’s All-Star Weekend on the books, Utah Jazz fans are turning their attention to the homestretch of the 2017-18 season. The team will begin their final push for a playoff spot on Friday, February 23 when the Portland Trail Blazers visit Vivint Smart Home Arena.

For his part, Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell will be back in the 801 on Wednesday. But he’s not in town just to throw down on the hardwood.

After a weekend filled with monster jams, pow wows with Floyd Mayweather and meals with Michael Rapaport, the league’s reigning Dunk Contest champion will be trading in his Dame 4 sneakers for a pair of bowling shoes.

Mitchell is set to host The Third Annual Smile Generation Strikes For Kids Utah Bowling Classic.  Strikes For Kids partners with over 125 NFL and NBA players across the country and serves to benefit youth organizations and enrich the lives of students in their local communities.

Last year, then Jazzman Shelvin Mack hosted the Utah event. Derrick Favors and George Hill were also on hand for the fun. Alec Burks hosted the inaugural event in 2016.

Proceeds from this year’s event in Utah will go toward will The Strikes For Kids Backpack Giveaway Program.

The Third Annual Smile Generation Strikes For Kids Utah Bowling Classic will take place on Wednesday, February 21 at FatCats Entertainment Center in Millcreek, Utah. Check-in/registration begins at 5:30 P.M. MT and bowling will run from 6-8 PM. There will also be a silent auction and raffle from 7-7:30.

For a $200 charitable donation, you’ll get bowling for six with pizza and soda, as well as a picture with Mitchell.
