Utah Jazz: Joe Ingles to help Donovan Mitchell with Dunk Contest?
In hilarious fashion, Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles took to social media to let Donovan Mitchell know that he was more than willing to advise him in preparation for the Dunk Contest.
Utah Jazz fans were granted a renewed dose of excitement about NBA All-Star Weekend as it was announced on Monday that Donovan Mitchell would replace Aaron Gordon in the Dunk Contest after the Orlando Magic forward withdrew due to a hip injury. Of course, we wish the best for Gordon in his recovery, but we’d be lying if we didn’t admit how ecstatic we are that Donovan will indeed be participating in the exhilarating event.
And while Donovan Mitchell was quick to admit that he has “a couple ideas” for what he’d like to do in the contest, he may find the greatest inspiration by turning to the most high-flying, acrobatic, breath-taking, extraordinary athlete on his squad.
Of course, I’m referring to the one and only “Slow-Mo” Joe Ingles.
What? You think I’m kidding? Then you haven’t seen the latest on social media.
Earlier this morning, Donovan Mitchell posted this graphic below, showing how elated he is to be participating in this year’s big event:

To which the witty and snarky Joe Ingles quickly replied:
Apparently Ingles has all the necessary tools up his sleeve that can will Donovan Mitchell to the Slam Dunk Championship, all Mitchell has to do is ask. After witnessing Joe’s greatness the past few years, I don’t doubt it one bit.
But Joe’s fun didn’t stop there. He took to Instagram as well to show just what a high-flyer he once was and to remind Mitchell that if he wants to kill it in the Dunk Contest, he needs to consult with the Aussie:
But for you skeptics out there who can’t take Joe Ingles’ word, the official Twitter account of Australia’s NBL got in on the action as well, providing video evidence of Joe Ingles throwing down with absolute authority:
You don’t have to believe me. You don’t even have to believe Joe Ingles. The footage speaks for itself.
Joe is more than willing to help his teammate. He has the advice and knows the secrets. Donovan would be a fool to pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity.

All jokes aside, I wouldn’t be surprised if the hilarious Aussie does have some clever dunk tricks up his sleeve. And whether Mitchell consults him not, I absolutely can’t wait to witness what the Incredible Spida-Man pulls out on February 17th.
Based on what we’ve seen thus far from his in-game dunks, I can almost guarantee that it’s going to be a spectacle to remember.
