C+. . SG. Utah Jazz. ALEC BURKS

Overall GPA: 2.30 (C)

Alec Burks’ play at the start of December had me re-thinking his potential and future with this Jazz team. After a stretch in which he logged eight straight 10-plus point games including performances of 24, 26 and 28 points, I believed Burks had finally found his role in Quin Snyder’s system.

But apparently that wasn’t quite the case. Alec’s last double-figure game came in a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on December 27.

While the game has seemed to slow down for the 12th overall pick in the 2011 draft, just when he seems to turn a corner he then tends to regress back to the norm. Which isn’t great.

Much like Favors, Burks also finds himself as a commonly-discussed trade piece as Dennis Lindsey and Co. look to upgrade Utah’s roster for a late-season playoff push.

I can’t knock Burks’ effort and spark off the bench, but if he wants to remain a rotation piece for the Jazz, he needs to find a way to become a reliable playmaker on Utah’s second unit.
