Kyle Lowry

Fellow Purple & Blues contributor Zack Padmore touched on the possibility of Kyle Lowry being a Jazz free agent target just this past week. Reports have surfaced that Lowry may be leaning towards joining a Western Conference team next season and if such is the case then Utah could potentially provide an interesting case for him to join their squad.

Of course adding Lowry would only make sense if the Jazz decided to part ways with George Hill, but if the choice came down to spending max money on Hill or spending max money on Lowry, that’s a pretty clear and easy decision. Hill is solid in his own right, but Lowry is a three-time All-Star who averaged a career-high 22.4 points this past season while shooting an incredible 41.2 percent from deep and dishing out seven assists.

He’s stated that his major priority for next season is to win a ring, which has led to many believing a team like San Antonio may be the best bet for him, but outside of the Spurs, there are few other Western teams with a more legitimate shot to add Lowry and contend for a championship than the Jazz.

However, if Utah opts to not re-sign Hill at the max, that may mean that they instead want to invest the lion’s share of their money at a position other than the point. If such is the case, hopefully Jazz brass has an incredible plan lined up, because passing up on Lowry (if he were indeed interested) would be missing out on a pretty impressive opportunity.

More from The J-Notes

As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, there’s certainly no shortage of options for the Utah Jazz this summer. Of course their first order of business will be resolving the situations involving their current key free agents – Gordon Hayward, Joe Ingles and George Hill.

But beyond that the sky is likely the limit for this Utah Jazz team as they look to take the next important step forward to becoming a true contender in the West.
