Dallas Mavericks – Deron Williams

This one may be controversial among some Jazz fans, but it’s actually a move that I personally would love to see. It’s also one that has been touched on here at Purple & Blues on a handful of occasions. Deron Williams has most certainly been mentioned as on the block and it would be great to see him come back home to the team that drafted him.

Much like Joe Johnson has embraced a reserve role with the Jazz, his former Brooklyn Nets teammate would likely do the same. Williams isn’t the same player he was during his hay day with the Jazz, but he’s still an above average scorer and is phenomenal at passing and running an offense. To date, he’s averaging a solid 13.1 points and 6.9 assists on the season.

Having the luxury of bringing D-Will off the bench behind George Hill would provide an absolute match-up nightmare for opposing teams and it would help propel the Jazz second unit to another level. He’s the kind of finisher and facilitator that would bring out the best in Utah’s role players.

Not to mention, in the occasion that Hill is having an off night or is injured, the Jazz would actually have someone to turn to unlike their current situation where they quickly go off the rails without a savvy point guard there to keep things flowing smoothly.

Speaking of Jazz homecomings, another Mavs player who’s been mentioned as a potential trade target is Devin Harris. I always felt like his time in a Jazz uniform was over much too quickly, and I would love to have him back. He’s similarly capable of running the point, especially off the bench, and could be a nice veteran fit.

Honorable Mention – Devin Harris
