Utah Jazz – Shelvin Mack

I wanted to finish up with the Utah Jazz because obviously they won’t be making a trade with themselves, but I wanted to instead look at which of their players could be the most expendable and likely to be used in a trade.

Of course Shelvin Mack is the first to come to mind as he has neither the talent to be vital to the team’s success nor the upside of Dante Exum. The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly expressed interest and with four point guards already on the roster, it does not seem like any stretch of the imagination that Mack could be on his way out.

Then, while Boris Diaw was viewed as a great veteran pickup for the Jazz, he hasn’t exactly been all that solid. He’s struggled to find his shot and hasn’t been strong on defense. He can be a nice piece offensively due to his passing ability, but for the most part the Jazz may be able to use him and his value to net a nice piece in return.

Honorable Mention – Boris Diaw

So as you can see, the Utah Jazz have plenty of options to weigh and measure as they explore the trade market and look to make a move before the deadline.

While not every team may have the best to offer and while others may not find value in what Utah has to offer, if the Jazz are serious about improving the team for the end of the season and the playoffs, they should have ample opportunity to do just that.
