Utah Jazz quick hits, including the preseason broadcast schedule and Joe Ingles’ Twitter game already hitting mid-season form.
Utah Jazz media day is just around the corner, followed in short order by training camp and, finally, the 2016-17 preseason. There’s always a certain level of excitement surrounding the preseason; say what you will of the quality of basketball that’s being played, it still provides a sneak peek of what fans can expect in the season ahead.
However, this year the stakes seem to be just a little bit higher.
Having completed their biggest roster overhaul since the team allowed Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson to walk in 2013, the Jazz will have a distinctly different look when they take the floor in October. The upcoming slate of exhibition games will essentially be the fans’ first look at what feels like a new team.
Following the recent release of the Jazz broadcast schedule for the upcoming campaign, we now know just when that first look will actually come. The team’s preseason opener on October 3 will also be their first televised game of the season, with a broadcast beginning at 8 PM mountain time on ROOT Sports.
In total, four of the team’s exhibition games will be televised on the network. The complete preseason broadcast schedule shakes out as follows–
Oct. 3 — @ Portland Trail Blazers, 8 PM mt
Oct. 5 — Vs. Phoenix Suns, 8 PM mt
Oct. 12 — @ Phoenix Suns, 7 PM, mt
Oct. 17 — Vs. Los Angeles Clippers, 7 PM mt
The commentary duo of play-by-play man Craig Bolerjack and analyst Matt Harpring will be on the call in these games and throughout the season, joined by the team’s new sideline reporter, Kristen Kenney. Kenney will also be a part of the Jazz pre- and postgame shows on ROOT, hosted by Alema Harrington, along with Thurl Bailey and Ron Boone.
The regular season tips off on October 25. For information on the complete broadcast schedule for the regular season, click HERE.

Ingles Already Bringing Twitter Fire
Jazz players have only just returned to Salt Lake City to prepare for the upcoming season, but one of them is already in mid-season form…on Twitter.
Joe Ingles has been a spark plug on the court for Utah. He’ll lock you down, knock you over and hit a clutch three in your face with all of the speed and agility of a three-toed sloth. He approaches his tweet game with a seemingly similar ferocity, and his teammates have already been on the receiving end of his social media slams.
Following an innocuous claim by Derrick Favors about his skills at the card game Uno, Ingles was quick to put the Jazz big man in his place–
Of course, this was nothing compared to his appraisal on Trey Lyles‘ FIFA skills, which apparently leave something to be desired–
One must also take care to properly park their vehicle if Ingles is in the vicinity. Teammate or no, the Aussie will out you if you can’t keep it straight–
The season is still several weeks away, but Slow-Mo Joe is already bringing the fire.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post incorrectly identified the date of the Jazz season opener as October 19. The regular season begins on the 25th.
