Five Things the Utah Jazz Need to Make the Playoffs
See Significant Internal Improvement
Although the Jazz’s young core most definitely has improved from year to year as they continue to improve their stats and win total, the overall improvement in 2016-17 didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Hayward was solid, but didn’t quite take the leap Jazz fans had hoped for. Rudy Gobert also fell short of becoming the behemoth that he seemed capable of being after a breakout final months in the 2014-15 season.

The one exception in this category would likely be Rodney Hood who, despite a slow start to the year, ended the season as one of the Jazz’s more reliable scoring threats.
Nevertheless, if the Jazz hope to be playoff contenders instead of pretenders next season, they’ll need one of their starters to turn in an All-Star worthy season. If Hayward, Favors, Gobert or Hood already plateaued in the 2016-17 season, it will mean real trouble for the Jazz’s chances going forward.
