Utah Jazz wing Joe Ingles is a jack of all trades on the hardwood, but his knack for cutting people down to size on Twitter may be his best talent. No one is exempt from his social media slams, with everyone from Gordon Hayward and Trevor Booker to Matt Harpring and Rudy Gobert having found themselves in his crosshairs.
So who’s the latest target of the Ingles tweet assault? None other than Big Joe’s former teammate with the Los Angeles Clippers, all-league power forward Blake Griffin.
Presumably in response to Oklahoma football’s overtime victory over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, the former Sooner tweeted the following–
Of course, the word Boomer has a very different meaning for Ingles and Aussies in general. It just so happens that the Australian national basketball team, of which Ingles and fellow Jazzman Dante Exum are members, is nicknamed the Boomers.
For Slow-Mo Joe, Griffin’s intentions were obvious–
While fellow Angeleno Nick Young legitimately seeks to join the Boomers in their quest for Olympic gold, it’s probably a safe bet that Griffin was simply giving a shout to his alma mater. Alleged Aussie accent notwithstanding.
Of course, Ingles didn’t take too kindly to the former Slam Dunk champion’s assessment of his Australian accent and responded with the following decree–
Joe, my man–I love you, but somehow this doesn’t seem likely. Then again, if anyone has the gumption to throw down on the All-Star, it’s Ingles. Or perhaps Trevor Booker, although that’s an entirely different brand of throwing down.
One thing is certain–no Jazzman mixes it up on Twitter like Joe Ingles.
