Amir Johnson, Toronto Raptors
For several years now, Raptors PF Amir Johnson has been one of the more underrated players in the Association. In his six seasons with Toronto, he has been a positive locker room presence and a key contributor to the team’s resurgence in recent years.
Of players appearing in at least 40 games this season, Johnson ranks 11th in the NBA in effective field goal percentage at 59.1-percent. In 2011, Johnson posted the second highest offensive rating of any player in the league with at 123.7. Over the course of his career, his team scores 117 points per 100 possessions when he is on the floor.
While a large percentage of his points come at the basket or off of other players’ action, there’s something to be said for a player who would rank in the top ten all time in field goal percentage if he had enough attempts to qualify.
Defensively, Johnson has regressed somewhat this season. Still, he continues to be a player that can make hustle plays with blocks and steals, then get out in transition and finish on the break.
Of all the power forwards available in the upcoming free agency period, Johnson would be my top pick for the Jazz.
