14. Phoenix Suns – Kyle Anderson
Phoenix has a ton of options in this draft. However, it has been extremely quiet on the Sun’s front. They own quite a few picks. Like I said though, not much action in the rumor mill for Phoenix.
The quiet front could be something that ex-Jazz legend, and Suns head coach, Jeff Hornacek is implementing. Playing in Utah, he knows how tight lipped everything is. That could be something he wants to keep going with his new gig.
If the Suns decide that they are staying put here, which it seems like they will, Anderson would be a great fit. Anderson is 6’9″ and 230 pounds, plays mainly the small forward position, but has handles like a point guard. On top of that, he shoots the ball pretty well.
With Channing Frye opting out of his contract and becoming an unrestricted free agent, Anderson could be an excellent replacement at that position. Frye played more of the “stretch four” position, but played a lot at the small forward spot. I can see Anderson doing the same thing, and where Hornacek liked Frye as much as he did there, drafting Anderson makes a ton of sense.
