No explanation for the pick was given. However, you have to think that a lot of teams are attracted to the NCAA College Player of the Year because of his ability to shoot the ball. In my opinion, adding McDermott to this Hawks team could make them a very deadly shooting team. They already have Kyle Korver who knocks down basically anything, and Paul Millsap has extended his range to the three point line. Adding another knock down shooter like McDermott to go with them makes a lot of sense.
