Alec Burks

Alec has been fantastic so far, especially in the month of December. Alec is putting up 12.4 points per game, while shooting 43.3% from the field. However, in the month of December, he has seen his averages go up a bit to 14.2 points per game and is shooting 48.8% from the field.

Alec has really taken the Jazz’s 6th man role as well as he possibly could have. I was worried before the first game of the season, as were I think a lot of Jazz fans, when Coach Corbin made the announcement before the game that Alec would be coming off the bench. I was worried that it would shake his confidence because he wasn’t getting the chance to develop like the other core young guys.

Alec proved us all wrong and said after the game how much he enjoyed the role he played in the game. He finished with 24 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the floor.Alec has had a few nice moments since then. Including a career high 31 point night against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat.

I’m very impressed with Alec. He could have taken the other route at the first of the season and been upset that he still wasn’t seeing his opportunity to crack the starting lineup like the other “core 4”. However, he came out and embraced that role and has been shining doing it. I would like to see a little more consistency out of Alec, though. Although, he has been doing more of that in December.
