Kyrie irving is one of the most electric players to ever come across the NBA. The combination of his handles, acrobatics, and silky smooth jumpshot makes him one of the fun players in league history. However, Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady believes one Utah Jazz alum has Irving beat in terms of handles: Jamaal Tinsley.
When asked about who he believed had the best handles he had ever seen on "The Young Man & the Three," McGrady singled out Tinsley while name-dropping Irving by comparison.
"Yeah, Jamaal Tinsley," McGrady said on The Young Man and the Three. "You remember, Jamaal Tinsley? Man, I don't think nobody had better handles than Jamaal Tinsley, even Kyrie. I think Jamaal Tinsley handles was probably the best I've seen... He was nice with that thing on a string."

That'll certainly put a former player on notice. Irving may be a character off the court, but usually, when fans think of the best handles in the NBA, both currently and ever, his name typically comes up. Even former Jazz star Deron Williams is an avid Kyrie stan, so this sentiment doesn't just come from casual fans.
So when someone like Tinsley, who hasn't been in the NBA for over a decade, is brought into that kind of conversation, that certainly causes a stir. When he gets that kind of endorsement from Tracy McGrady, a Basketball Hall of Famer who, like Kyrie, was one of the most entertaining players of his era, that's a huge deal.
Jamaal Tinsley was pretty flashy even when he was a Jazzman
Tinsley never made an All-Star team—in fact, he never even came close. His best days were back when he played for the Indiana Pacers
However, he could put on a show when he was on the court. By the time he got to Utah, his best days were behind him, but he played a role in some Jazz playoff teams during Gordon Hayward's early days and Paul Millsap's prime days.
He played for the Jazz for three years from 2011 to 2014, and by the time he did, his best days were behind him. However, McGrady wasn't wrong when talking about Tinsley's handles. He could dazzle the Utah crowd even as he was approaching the end of his NBA career.
His Jazz stats won't blow anyone's mind, but it is a fun tidbit of Jazz history that they had someone who could certainly wow audiences from start to finish. Tinsley may not have been one of the biggest names in the NBA, but it is quite the amazing honor to have your handles be compared to a basketball titan like Irving by another basketball titan like McGrady.
