Ever since trading season started, there hasn't been a lot of intel about the Utah Jazz. To be fair, it's not like it's hard to discern what the Jazz's plans are. At this point, it's a matter of which teams specifically are interested in who the Jazz have to offer.
That brings us to John Collins, who has re-established his trade value this season. However, if the Jazz find a trade partner for him, no one should count on Utah getting something valuable in return for him. Rather But, hey, at least that's better than having to give up assets
As far as who could be interested in Collins, it's been previously reported that the Kings have looked into him, but that was a while ago. HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported another team has also inquired about him, though he's one of the several centers they're keeping their eyes on.
"The Warriors have continued their due diligence on the trade market and inquired about potential frontcourt upgrades, including Nikola Vucevic, John Collins, Jonas Valanciunas, and Robert Williams, league sources told HoopsHype," Scotto wrote.
The Warriors are in trouble. They're in Stephen Curry's final days, and they're not the contenders they were in the past and hoped they would be in the present. Collins may not be the best player they can get on the market, but he might be the cheapest.
The irony here is that the Warriors tried to get Lauri Markkanen before he agreed to an extension. It sounded like the Jazz never really entertained things with the Warriors. And now, with how much Golden State has struggled (after a sizzling start, no less), they may have to settle for Collins.
For what it's worth, Collins has looked like his old self again in Utah this season, and he does some of the same things Markkanen does as a big man who can stretch the floor. However, though he can create his own shot, it's not secret how much better Markkanen is at that, which makes him the star that he is.
The Jazz are scouring the market on Collins
Jake Fischer reported on The Stein Line that the Jazz have been looking for a place to trade Collins.
"League sources say Washington and Utah are actively exploring the market possibilities with Jonas Valančiūnas and John Collins," Fischer wrote.
It's not like Fischer is reporting anything earth-shattering here, but it is the most recent confirmation that the Jazz are trying to find a new home for Collins. With the trade deadline weeks away, more smoke is coming out regarding Collins being off the team.
The Jazz will still be the same tanking team no matter how things shake out, but anything that happens with them at the trade deadline, whether it's Collins going out or not, will be exciting to see!
