Shaquille O'Neal is in for a surprise when Rudy Gobert achieves this milestone

O'Neal made what he thinks is a bold claim about the Jazz alum. He better be ready for what is inevitable for Gobert.

It's been on the public record for some time now that Shaquille O'Neal has a lot of disdain for Utah Jazz alum Rudy Gobert. Shaq has made it very clear how much he dislikes him, and that dislike extends to the point that he is willing to bet on Gobert not making the Hall of Fame. Well, when Gobert hangs it up, O'Neal will be in for a surprise when the Jazz legend gets inducted.

On "The Big Podcast," O'Neal reiterated that his contempt for Gobert stems from how much money the latter makes and yet does not play in crunchtime. He then explained what he would do if Gobert gets inducted into the Hall of Fame.

"If Rudy Gobert gets into the Hall of Fame, I'll wear this dress to the (expletive) ceremony, okay?" O'Neal said while showing a painting of a woman wearing a dress.

Before we continue, let the record show that this is not true at all about Gobert. The Minnesota Timberwolves played in five playoff games in total that were considered to have clutch minutes. How many of those games did Gobert appear in? All five.

In fact, the only Timberwolf who played more clutch minutes than Gobert did during their most recent playoff run was fellow Jazz alum Mike Conley, per NBA.com. In the regular season, Gobert appeared in 35 games that were considered to have clutch minutes. The only two Timberwolves who finished ahead of him were Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels.

Rudy Gobert will make the Hall of Fame. Book it.

Now to be fair, any Jazz fan will think this is preaching to the choir, but it still bares repeating: there is no doubt that Rudy Gobert will be in the Hall of Fame. He was one of the best defenders of his era and of all-time. He shares the feat of winning four Defensive Player of the Year awards with only two other players: Ben Wallace and Dikembe Mutombo, both of whom are in the Hall of Fame.

The NBA recognizes consistent elite defense, and that's what Gobert provided with the Jazz and has only continued to provide with the Timberwolves. While the Jazz haven't said anything yet, it likely goes without saying that Gobert will get his number retired in Utah like Wallace did in Detroit and Mutombo did in Atlanta and Denver.

Gobert has offensive limitations. So did Wallace (couldn't shoot a free throw to save his life - SOUND FAMILIAR SHAQ?!) and so did Mutombo (asserted his dominance more when he didn't look to score). It did not matter whatsoever because all three of them were among the most feared rim protectors the NBA has ever seen. Wallace and Mutombo are the living proof that you don't have to dominate offensively to be among the best big men this league has ever seen.

So, when it's all said and done, Shaq better be ready to do his best Dennis Rodman impression soon enough because Gobert is getting into the Hall whether he likes it or not.
