Proposed blockbuster Anthony Davis trade solves Jazz's biggest concern

Let's start this with a big, fat NO. The Utah Jazz are not getting Anthony Davis. The idea sounds kind of cool, especially after they just traded Walker Kessler, but that's not happening. Davis is too injury-prone for Utah to take that risk, but that doesn't mean someone else will. Especially if that someone is trying to reunite Davis with LeBron James.

James already helped the Jazz out by ditching the Los Angeles Lakers, thus making the Kessler trade easier to make. Now he can indirectly do it again if his decision more or less gets this trade proposal to go through.

Sports Illustrated's Art Cummings proposed a blockbuster sign-and-trade between the Jazz, Washington Wizards, and Cleveland Cavaliers that would be done if it gets James to the Cavaliers, but would also help the Jazz big time.

He proposed the following swap.

Cavaliers get: Anthony Davis, John Konchar, Brice Sensabaugh

Wizards get: Max Strus, Dennis Schroder, Cody Williams, Kyle Filipowski, two first-round picks

Jazz get: Jarrett Allen

This was based on an unsubstantiated rumor that the Jazz were a third team in a trade that would get Davis to the Cavaliers. No one knows if it has legs or not, but this is a deal Utah should consider if it's on the table for them.

Right now, the Jazz are operating with the center-by-committee approach with Jusuf Nurkic and Jaxson Hayes primarily manning the minutes at the five. That's not the worst idea, but there's a solid probability that it could hold Utah back.

Allen definitely has his warts, but he would be a pretty fantastic Kessler replacement.

It would also take care of another pressing Jazz problem

Something Utah also knows about their long-term future is that they can't pay every single one of their youngsters. They will pay Keyonte George, Ace Bailey, and Darryn Peterson should they live up to their potential as All-Stars, but Sensabaugh, Filipowski, Williams, and Isaiah Collier's lower ceiling make their futures a little murkier.

The odds of any of those four panning out better than Allen doesn't seem likely, so while there's nothing wrong with Utah keeping some of them around, they can't keep allof them. The Jazz showed how aware of this they were then they traded Taylor Hendricks and Walter Clayton Jr. for Jaren Jackson Jr., so this would be in their wheelhouse.

But all of this ties back to what LeBron decides. Cleveland only pulls the trigger if they know he's coming back for Round 3. If he does, Utah should absolutely get involved in a blockbuster trade like this.
