Trade #1 - Gary Trent for Jordan Clarkson

On the surface, this might not appear to be a huge trade for either team. Trent was a starter in Toronto until this year, and his numbers have taken a dip as a reserve. He averaged 18.3 and 17.4 points the past 2 seasons before this year's 10.3 ppg, and his contract is set to expire in June.

Clarkson looked outstanding a year ago as the starting two-guard for the Utah Jazz but has struggled this year as a creator, and his shooting has taken a huge dive. He's averaging 16.6 points and 4.9 assists on .399/.298 shooting splits in 19 games this season.

Toronto has looked reluctant to pull the trigger on a rebuild, despite having multiple valued players in trade rumors (Pascal Siakam, OG Annuoby, Scottie Barnes).

Toronto would benefit from the deal in getting a player who can play either backcourt position and provide much-needed offense to their 2nd unit.

Utah would add Trent to their backcourt and get a 6'5" player with defensive ability (1.7 steals per game from 2021-22 to 2022-23) who fits age-wise with their rebuild (turning 25 in January).
