The Utah Jazz have emphasized bringing in NBA champions to the roster. Patty Mills and Svi Mykhailiuk were probably not who anyone had in mind as potential targets, but they have titles on their resumes. That was enough, apparently!
The Jazz could have undertaken a reclamation project like Dennis Smith Jr., but instead elected to bring in players who know what it's like to go all the way to the top. Several former NBA champions are still available in free agency if they want as many of those player archetypes as possible.
They may not necessarily be the most talented players left, but, full disclosure, they aren't that much worse than the likes of Mills or Mykahiliuk, all things considered.
